Service Description
This monitoring service is designed to assure timely
and responsive operation of an ecommerce activity by measuring end-user response time over the web
using conventional DSL facilities.
These tests involve a three-tier approach in which a specific ecommerce transaction
is run 10 times per hour to confirm coherent operation of the subject website.
The eValid test playback is required to be completed within a specified time limit (maximum 60 seconds, usually less). If the test fails to complete for any reason three times in succession the appropriate email alerts are sent.
Alerts issued this way indicate that even though the server may be operating normally, it is not working quickly enough at the time the tests were made, to meed the service level specified by the maximum transaction-complete time limit. Alerts by this monitor are intended to indicate gross performance problems long before there is catastrophic server failure.
