eValidator -- RIA Monitoring Demo Description
eValid Home
Explanations
Log into the
eValid Monitoring Demo
to see examples of eValid RIA monitoring at work
-
Samples of the execution output of scripts that
perform typical RIA monitoring functions.
The scripts are running in copies of eValid that execute
on machines located in our facility.
- The control page that you see after the login looks like this sample, where
there is one section for each of the monitoring scripts being displayed;
-
Each sample script has several tiers of timing data reported,
so you can see what is going on in each stage of the multi-step test.
This kind of presentation makes it easy to see where there may be a problem.
-
Visual results reporting --
in this case from the Groundwork open source system --
showing the history of
response times and how they vary over time.
Here is the kind of picture you'll see:
-
Detailed information about each script is given in a display like this,
where you can adjust the time interval for the display.
-
A direct link to the standard eValid script description page
for each test being run.
That page gives you the actual script used,
describes the monitoring protocol used,
and describes the timing data intervals being used.
About This Demo
The scripts are being played back by eValid V9.
The timing data is taken from the eValid EventLog records that are tagged in a special
way -- with formatted messages -- for automatic extraction of the data with PERL
scripts that feed the data into the
Groundwork Open Source Community Edition V6.1 monitoring solution, which is built
on the Nagios framework.
The controls and displays on the top pages of the demo
are managed with the NagVis addon component,
which is a product of the Super-Visions (Belgium) group,
with data displays generated from the RRD data managed by Nagios.
