LoadTest Infinite User Key (IUK) Description
eValid Home
Summary
The eValid LoadTest Infinite User Key (IUK) enables use of
eValid LoadTest runs on an arbitrary number of playback machines.
Usage Recommendations
Infinite User Keys (IUKs)
are issued only for a one-week period only.
It is good practice to plan ahead to get optimum use from your IUK.
Here are some key points to remember about planning for optimum use of this key:
- Master Scenario.
Develop and confirm your master LoadTest scenario on your licened LoadTest machine.
- Machine Capacity.
Make sure for your scenario mix that you know the usful capacity of your machine(s),
25, 50, 75, 100, 150 or more simultaneous Simulated Users (SUs) per machine.
- User Mix.
Make sure you have a realistic mix of user activities
that you want to spread to multiple machines.
- Scale In Extra Machines.
Once you have your mix determined,
it makes good sense
to bring additional machines into service,
incrementing the total number of SUs while paying attention
to the overall measure server load.
- Keep Careful Records.
Servers fail in a wide variety of ways
and as you impose higher and higher SU loads
you need to have carefully kept records
so you can identify the root cause of any failures.
IUK Mechanics
The mechanics of use of an IUK are simple.
You specify to us when you want your IUK to end.
We'll send your IUK to you earlier than on start of your one week usage.
This way,
you'll be sure to have plenty of time to run your complete family of LoadTest scenarios.
IUK Key Contents
If you are using an IUK here are some things to remember about each machine.
- Install eValid.
Install eValid on each machine.
eValid is freely installable anywhere,
but without a license it won't perform any of its
record/play or load testing functions.
- Machine/CPU Adjustments.
Make sure you have followed the instructions in
Machine/CPU Adjustments
to provide for the maximum possible number of users.
- Use eValidP.exe.
Your IUK includes a PLAY key which activates
eValidP.exe.
This version of eValid runs all eValid functions,
but for playback only.
You may want to create a shortcut for
eValidP.exe so it is easy to reach.
- Sample IUK License File.
Here is a sample of what evalid.lic will contain
when a machine has an eValid V9 IUK license:
