SpotCheck Test Example

Introduction

The SpotCheck Test uses the Validate Selected Text feature to ensure several parts of one or more pages have not been changed.
The example below enters Webfarm, Inc.'s website at http://www.webfarm.com website and selects text within the first paragraph for validation.

Recording The Test

Start at Webfarm, Inc.'s website located at http://www.webfarm.com and start recording by selecting Record > Start Recording.

Use your mouse to highlight the text of the first paragraph.

While the text is highlighted, click Record > Validate > Selected > Text to have eValid record which text should be validated when the script is played back.

Select Record > Stop Recording to stop the recording.

Typical Playback

Click Playback > Start Playback to begin the playback process.

Once the playback is finished, click Window > Logs > Event Log to see the results of the playback.

The selected text has not been changed during playback if the line in the event log corresponding to the text validation reads Selected text matches: <Body of Selected Text here>.

Lessons Learned

eValid reports any changes within the text area of a web document made since the last recording of a page.
